Bail Enforcement Fugitive Recovery State Requirements
Ability vs State Bail Enforcement Requirements
Becoming a highly skilled Investigator is the foundation of this industry,
not State requirements
We apologize in advance for our frankness, we are both experienced and successful at training and assisting individuals in becoming active and successful Bail Enforcement Agents Nationwide.
THE BIG MYTH: IF I FULFILL STATE REQUIREMENTS AND OBTAIN A LICENSE I WILL BE THE CHOICE OF ALL THE BOND COMPANIES, I DO NOT NEED THE SKILLS NEEDED TO COMPETE WITH THE ESTABLISHED COMPETENT PROFESSIONALS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.
THE MAJORITY OF STATES DO NOT REQUIRE A LICENSE: Some of those States require additional classes. This information is generally found at a States Department of Insurance. These classes are neither extensive nor restrictive in expense, most are in fact are the same as required by security guards ( an example). They do not however, consist of anything pertaining to the complex skills of locating fugitives or conducting investigations, in fact a California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services Firearms Instructor and law enforcement major, recently graduated from the Academy. His opinion: unlike the Academy, nothing in his extensive P.O.S.T. training / certifications or State required classes provided the knowledge or resources necessary to excell in Bail Enforcement, we repeat nothing is obtained in any States required training courses that will contribute to your current ability to track fugitives or become a successful Recovery Agent.
"Prior to attending the Bail Enforcement Academy's fugitive recovery training course, I had an extensive background in the criminal justice field. I am a graduate from a full P.O.S.T. Basic Police Academy and I hold certifications with both the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) as a firearms instructor. I had also completed all of the training requirements pursuant to the Bail Fugitive Recovery Persons Act (CPC 1299), including a pre-bail licensing course held by the California Association of Bail Bondsmen (CABB). However, none of these training courses provided me with any instruction on the actual investigative skills and resources required to be a successful Fugitive Recovery Agent. At the Academy, I not only learned about the bail bond industry, but I was given valuable tools and resources to further my career as a Fugitive Recovery Agent that will assist me in the years ahead. As a result of my training, I received my first recovery case for a $15,000 bond after making contact with only two bail bondsmen. Thanks for the training and continued support. The Instructors of State required classes typically have NO EXPERIENCE in the actual field of Bail Enforcement, do not confuse fulfilling a list of a States requirements with obtaining and possessing the ability and talent to be successful or competitive in this industry.
We receive telephone inquires and emails from individuals concerned only with obtaining with their States requirements, apparently unaware their current investigative ability is likely inadequate to even be considered by the Industry, let alone to compete with the already established working B.E.A.'s. Such thinking consistently prohibits one from entering the field, in fact, this strategy guarantees failure even if you could get a case. Thinking one can enter a business that truly does not suffer fools with inadequate training usually has the expected result. If security guard training by itself was adequate for a successful career that requires exceptional investigative skills, why haven't the thousands of Security Guards left that vocation and entered the far more lucrative bail enforcement industry?
It's simple: Fulfilling a list of State requirements will make it legal to operate where required but has has no bearing on your ability to locate fugitives which is the only reason a Bail Bonding Company would have any interest in your services. Ten + years of experience confirms that if one is unable to perceive this it is unlikely they will be successful in the field, in fact we are completely confident one will not, security guards (including the additional certifications) with no investigative skills are a dime a dozen.
State requirements where required for Bail Enforcement Agents ignore ability and address backgrounds, legal knowledge, insurance or bonding, weapons certifications etc. when issuing licenses.
In the business of fugitive recovery your reputation is based entirely on your ability to find even the most difficult defendants. For this reason nobody is impressed with a minimally "trained" individual with a crisp just printed State license. The Bond industry only utilizes capable and where required licensed Recovery Agents ( ability ) if you cannot locate fugitives especially when just entering the field, what is the future for yourself with that new license? Would you as a Bondsman offer a case or as a professional B.E.A. network with another "State Requirements Only" Agent when it will likely cost you tens of thousands dollars? We don't know anyone that would, in fact it is an automatic DISQUALIFICATION if you have little or no investigative skills. You need to obtain them from a source of experience, a lot of confirmable experience. And not from "experts" whom have never personally established a confirmable and impressive career as a bail enforcement agent yet "expertly teach" others.
